The Educator's Package is useful for working one-on-one with clients and their family members, and for conducting workshops.
In a 1-hour session you can provide an introduction to the topic, highlight the "Six Key Factors," and direct people toward additional resources. Have sample workbooks with you, or offer them for sale.
In a 3-hour workshop you can introduce the topic and present one or two selected concepts, such as goals and fairness, or how to identify special objects. These workshops generally include the workbook as part of the course materials.
For a more in-depth approach, offer a 6-week series of workshops in which you explore the "Six Key Factors" in detail using the teaching outlines and activities provided. Again, these workshops generally require the workbook as the text for the course.
Those interested in teaching about the transfer of non-titled property are strongly encouraged to pursue our "Training for Trainers" program, below.

Training for Trainers
Professionals who have the potential to work with and reach family members regarding inheritance decisions frequently need and benefit from training. Our "Train the Trainers" program is designed to help community educators, senior housing managers, estate planning attorneys and many others to effectively teach and/or work directly with clients and family members. Nearly all practicing professionals can benefit from exploring current research on families and inheritance, being trained in key decision-making issues, and knowing how to effectively work with family members when planning in advance or in crisis.
We have found most professionals benefit by:
Gaining an overview of inheritance patterns, norms, and practices from the perspective of intergenerational family decision making;
Gaining insight into the overall complexity of titled and non-titled inheritance family decision making, including legal, economic, and social dynamics;
Learning firsthand from leading researchers about the unique aspects of families and non-titled property inheritance decision making;
Identifying factors influencing family inheritance decision-making patterns and realities;
Recognizing that a "fair" inheritance has many meanings and relates to both decision-making outcomes and process;
Understanding key concepts being taught in the Who Gets Grandma's Yellow Pie Plate?TM educational program. Participants gain hands-on experience with the workbook and video which help teach six key factors important for successful non-titled property transfers;
Identify implications for working with and educating family members. Learning specific strategies that work for using the Who Gets Grandma's Yellow Pie Plate?TM program resources.
We have experience developing and conducting training sessions for community educators, senior housing managers, hospice workers, probate court officials, social service workers with aging populations, financial planners, legal librarians, estate planning attorneys, and development officers.
Depth: Minimum of four hours. Options for packaging and delivering training include daylong in-person workshops, interactive videoconferences, and other uses of technology. One-to-one personal coaching is also available.
